    Year 8 Bubble Closure

As an Academy, the health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils, parents and staff is of the utmost importance and we are working incredibly hard, alongside the Trust and the appropriate authorities to provide a safe teaching and learning environment and minimise the risk of COVID-19 as much as possible.

As the circumstances regarding COVID-19 continue to evolve, we have created this central information hub to ensure our parents and carers receive the most up-to-date information.

At Stanground Academy, the following bubbles are currently self-isolating as a precautionary measure:

I hope this finds you well and you are staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.

I am writing to you today, to inform you that we have been advised by Public Health England of a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the Academy.

Using our robust contact tracing processes, we have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected person and, in keeping with the latest national guidance and Public Health England advice, must now stay home and self-isolate, as a precautionary measure, until 1 July 2021 (10 days after contact), and return to school on 2 July 2021.

Throughout this period, our team of dedicated staff will ensure work is available for your child, which will be directly aligned to their curriculum pathway, helping provide continuity of their education during this time. This will be available via Teams where possible. Of course, they can also email their teachers with any work-related questions they may have.

If your child is well at the end of the 10-day period of self-isolation, they can return to their usual activities, including attending school. Other members of your household can continue normal activities, provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 10-day self-isolation period.

More information for contacts of people with confirmed coronavirus infection and who do not live with the person can be found at the following link:

If your child, a household member or a member of your support bubble develops any of the following symptoms, they should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days from the date when the first person in the house became ill. This includes anyone in you ‘Support Bubble’.

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

    • a new continuous cough and/or

    • a high temperature and/or

    • a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via or by calling 119. People who do not have symptoms should not request a test unless this has been specifically requested by Public Health England or the local authority.

Additional information regarding Public Health England’s ‘Stay at Home’ Guidance can also be found at: infection.

If your child, or anyone in your household, does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from NHS 111 at or by phoning 111.

As a community, we can also help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 by:

    • washing your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds

    • using hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

    • washing your hands as soon as you get home

    • covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

    • putting used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am sure you will appreciate that we have to follow certain safety and precautionary measures to keep all pupils safe during this time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy or use the following link to access further information:

    Yours faithfully

    Gary Carlile
